The resulting total war - including not just the Hashashin, but also the Seljuks, Croatians, Hungarians, Pechenegs, Fatimids, Sicilians, and the HRE, because all those powers totally give a sh!t about the fate of some random castle in the middle of my territory controlled by a glorified assassin's guild - lasts seven years because every army that I would've stackwiped in the old system instead takes 20 percent losses and shatters seven counties into allied territory, where they promptly regenerate inside of two months.Īnd then, after the war ends, my ruler dies - and his heir inherits every last shard of threat the father had. The entire world promptly declares war on me in honor of that coalition, nevermind that I declared war on the Hashashin because they've got a barony in my lands and I need it to take complete control of the duchy. I, the Byzantine Emperor, reach critical blobbing mass and decide to say '♥♥♥♥♥♥' and declare war anyway, even if my threat is high. The way battles work now are borked as well, especially tied into the whole threat mechanic.
